I Don't Want to Be (Songs of our Adolescence)

‘I don’t want to be anything other than what I’ve been trying to be lately. All I have to do is think of me, and I have peace of mind… I don’t want to be anything other than me’ Chorus - I Don’t Want to Be, by Gavin DeGraw

Has there ever been a time where you wanted to join a group, but you weren’t accepted because you had a different taste/attitude? Have you been bullied because people thought you were different? ‘I don’t want to be anything other than what I’ve been trying to be lately’ – (I Don’t Want to Be, Gavin DeGraw). Throughout school, I want to be myself and no one else through school, and I want to be accepted that way. If not, then I’ll have to find new friends. That’s what I think. I want people who accepts who I am and who doesn’t expect me to be something totally different. That’s what I believe in my adolescence; to have friends who like you for who you are. ‘All I have to do is think of me, and I have peace of mind’, this lyric of the song feels like a reminder to me because if I’m acting different, or not myself, it’s a reminder for me to properly get back on track. ‘I Don’t Want to Be Anything Other than Me’. I’m not going to try to be anyone else, except myself. This represents MY adolescence.
